Well, this Sunday June 4 is Pentecost. Pentecost marks the day when the Holy Spirit - like a rush of wind - entered a house where Jesus’ apostles were gathered after Jesus’ ascension into heaven (see Acts 2:1-21). The Holy Spirit then rested on them “like tongues of fire” (which makes the apostles a bit like birthday candles!) Through the Spirit, the apostles were united as one body, for the common good. Pentecost marks this spirit-filled day as the beginning of the early church. Indeed, you might say Pentecost is the birthday of the Christian Church in the world. Happy Birthday, Church!
Please join us for worship on Sunday at 10 am, as we celebrate our unity in the Holy Spirit on Pentecost through the sharing of Holy Communion.
