I Just Called to Say I Love You: Special Mother's Day Music

On Mother's Day, Knox musician Steve Yeager played a special mother's day tribute, transforming Stevie Wonder's "I Just Called to Say I Love You" into a message about mothering, especially mothers later in life who remain connected to their children most often by phone calls.

You’ve given all, throughout your life, To all your children and to all of those in need,

The rose in you, blooms forth to all, Its fragrance sweetens like the love that is your creed.

Each child looks up, innocent gaze, And sees the wisdom that will guide him all his days,

The loving hand, a mother’s touch, The words we say that always mean so very much.

I just called to say, I love you,

I just called to say how much I care,

I just called to say, I love you,

And I mean it from the bottom of my heart.

God’s gift to us, the light of light, A woman’s blessing is to teach us how to live,

As each tree grows, it bears the fruit, And nurtures in each soul a spirit to forgive,

We look to you, eyes bright and wide, Thank God that you have always been right by our side,

With open hearts, and minds aware, We honor mothers, those with children everywhere.

I just called to say, I love you,

I just called to say how much I care,

I just called to say, I love you,

And I mean it from the bottom of my heart.
